What's Worser Than Worst?

I wrote these notes below on my smartphone when I last came to London for work in September 2007 but never posted them. Here’s just the first day, which sums up the rest of the week quite nicely:

Day 1- What’s the worst thing that happens when getting on the plane and seeing your fellow seat-mate? Well they’re large or smelly.

What’s second worst? Having them tell you that they feel fine now but get motion sickness- this all before a six hour trans-Atlantic flight.

Got to hotel after the Underground was shut down due to strike and room was small but adequate. But not enough hangers or ironing board. Gave up on the rarely used but abused cat5 cable for the internet.

But the real triumph was in trying to power up both my laptop and phone at the same time. Mind you, this was already after messing around with the plugs and realizing there were two outlets for the entire room. So I plugged in my UK to U.S. converter and then plugged in my small laptop power surge ptotector that has two outlets on it— snap, spark and smokey fumes.

Oh shit, I just the blew the fuse on the only power outlets in the room. No more TV, PC, or charging my phone. Then I tried going to bed.
